Did you notice that baile funk is changing in shape? Recent tracks showed: No more Tamborzãos, no more Volt Mix Beat, hardly any pop-samples. This year´s Rio funk flavour certainly´s been the Tamborzinho, the beatbox version of the Tamborzão (using a beatbox freestyle of Mr.Catra). Another much used element: Bahian drumming (which makes funk sound more "Brazilian"), and the ubiquious Perez Prado horn snippet.Some people call this new style "Macumba". Whatever its name: Funk is going back to the roots.
